Our Giving
Big Bill’s New York Pizza’s “9/11 Day of Giving” is an annual fundraiser where on the entire day of September 11, guests are asked to make a donation in exchange for their food and drinks at the restaurant. Customers generally donate three to four times what their visit would have normally cost, with all the funds going to Colorado cancer organizations through the JoAnn B. Ficke Cancer Foundation. The entire restaurant staff donates their salary, time and tips for the day. Vendors donate supplies and Ficke covers any extra hard cost.
“Every year when we make our gifts is easily one of the best days of the year for us,” said Dan Ficke. “Everybody involved with Big Bill’s works so hard to make 9/11 a success, and our customers are so generous, their giving is beyond our imagination. To present these checks and to know these great organizations are going to go on helping people going through something very tough like we did just brings it all full circle for my Dad and me. Because of my mom JoAnn, we know first hand about the great work these organizations do, and each one is making a huge positive impact. We are extremely proud to support them.”
